Jaco

Jaco is the bassist for the Birds of Wisdom, and he's a bit of a mystery. Melody calls him "The Mystery Man," mostly because he rarely hangs around after rehearsal and never volunteers much about his life outside the band.

Once, Birdie got curious enough to follow him. Jaco headed straight to Whiskers, a whiskey bar on the outskirts of town. Through the window, Birdie spotted him sitting beside one of the most beautiful birds she had ever seen.

Birdie nearly went weak in the knees.

Whatever Jaco gets up to when he isn't with the band, one thing is certain: he is a damn good bassist. Rumor has it he played with some real pros before joining the Birds, though Jaco has never confirmed or denied it.

When the band travels, he's usually wearing headphones, listening to everyone from jazz legends to musicians nobody else has heard of.

His satchel is filled with cassettes.

Yes, cassettes.

Jaco still uses a Walkman.

He may not socialize much, but the band loves him through and through.

He brings something to their music that nobody else can.

Word of Wisdom

"You don't have to explain everything. Sometimes what you bring is enough."
